Three-legged stools were designed for dirt floor homes, because four-legged stools would not balance on an uneven floor.
“Walls of rich top soil -- the dream of pioneers and farmers. The soil wall is a striking form in itself and seems to stand for nature’s original purity. The rich brown hue, as well as the grade and value of soil, is hard to “see” simply due to the incongruity of soil in a vertical position in a urban gallery. The ladders carved form the limbs of fallen trees, are a anthropomorphic fallen symbol for humankind. The three pieces address the interdependence of nature and human culture.”
